For Dynamic Focus Adjustment

Purpose

The X!Focus software guarantees optimal exposure results even on uneven surfaces with a continuous dynamically regulated focus.

Main functions

During printing X!Focus continuously measures the distance to the surface of the print medium and adjusts the focus distance of the optics accordingly.

Without X!Focus, the whole print medium will be imaged with the same focus setting, which may result in inadequate exposure where the medium is uneven or bent and the laser beam is no longer properly focused.

To avoid inadequate exposure, the sensor constantly measures the distance to the printing medium during the exposure process, with a motor continuously correcting the optics. The maximum correction is 0.8 mm/s.

Without X!Focus on an uneven surface:

Yellow: Print medium surface. Black: Focus of the laser beam.


With X!Focus, the focus follows the uneven surface:

Yellow: Print medium surface. Black: Focus of the laser beam.
